For the third consecutive day, the Dean of the Administrative Technical Institute in Basra, Professor Dr. Iman Askar Hawi, continued his active participation in the peaceful sit-in held in front of the Southern Technical University gate, alongside the deans of the university’s colleges and institutes, in support of the demands of the university’s academic, technical, and administrative staff.
This participation reaffirms the official position supporting the rights of educational, administrative, and technical personnel, and calling for the reversal of the decision to suspend the allowances of the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research, due to its negative impact on the financial and professional stability of employees in educational institutions, as well as its direct effect on the quality of the educational process.
Participants in the sit-in emphasized their commitment to peaceful and lawful methods in expressing their legitimate demands, stressing the importance of ensuring fairness for higher education staff and preserving their acquired rights in accordance with applicable laws and regulations, in a way that guarantees the continuity and stability of academic institutions.
The participation of the Administrative Technical Institute’s leadership in this protest movement reflects its continued commitment to standing alongside its staff and the members of the Southern Technical University community, defending their professional rights as part of its national and academic responsibility, in a manner that serves the public interest and strengthens the higher education environment in Iraq.
