Assistant Lecturer Ilham Omair, from the Legal Management Techniques Department at the Administrative Technical Institute in Basra, took part in a training-of-trainers workshop on developing a proposed Career Guidance Manual, held in Erbil Governorate under the sponsorship of the Tawasul Project.
The workshop program included a comprehensive review of the guidance manual at the unit level and practical approaches to its use, along with developing the role of career counselors and outlining the general framework for advancing career guidance. It also highlighted the importance of training centers, the methodologies adopted by each center, and the core competencies required of professional counselors.
In addition, the workshop addressed communication skills and body language for counselors, the accuracy of tools used to assess career interests and aptitudes, and key theories of career development with practical applications. Further topics included employability skills, the role of artificial intelligence in career guidance, and labor market assessment and requirements—contributing to more effective guidance services aligned with the evolving needs of the job market.
