The Psychological Counseling Unit at the Technical Administrative Institute in Basra Organizes a Workshop on “The Rise of Divorce in Iraq”

The Psychological Counseling and Educational Guidance Unit at the Technical Administrative Institute in Basra, in collaboration with the Department of Materials Management Technologies, organized an awareness workshop titled “The Rise of Divorce in Iraq” on Tuesday, December 31, 2024. The workshop took place in the institute’s conference and seminar hall.

The event was attended by Dr. Iman Askar Hawi, Associate Dean for Administrative Affairs; Ms. Manal Abdul Hamid Abdul Majid, Head of the Materials Management Technologies Department; as well as a number of faculty members, staff, and students.

The workshop was presented by legal expert Mohammad Qasim, a staff member of the Materials Management Technologies Department. He addressed the growing causes of divorce in Iraq and its social and psychological impacts, offering solutions to mitigate its prevalence. The session also witnessed positive engagement from the attendees, who shared their opinions and posed questions.

In her remarks, Dr. Iman Askar Hawi emphasized the importance of addressing such social issues that impact family and community stability. She commended the efforts of the Psychological Counseling Unit in organizing awareness activities that contribute to raising social consciousness.

Ms. Manal Abdul Hamid Abdul Majid praised the efforts put into preparing the workshop and stressed the importance of continued collaboration between departments to achieve shared educational and social goals.

At the end of the workshop, attendees expressed their appreciation for the significance of the topic and highlighted the need to intensify awareness efforts to address this phenomenon and promote family values.
