Raising the Flag of Imam Hussain (peace be upon him) at the Southern Technical University

In an atmosphere filled with faith and devotion, the Southern Technical University held a flag-raising ceremony to mark the arrival of the holy month of Muharram. The event took place in the university’s main courtyard.

The ceremony was attended by Prof. Dr. Adnan Abdullah Atiq, President of the Southern Technical University, along with a blessed delegation from the Holy Shrine of Imam Hussain, several deans of colleges and institutes — including Prof. Dr. Iman Askar Hawi, Dean of the Administrative Technical Institute in Basra — as well as a large gathering of university staff and employees.

This annual event is a renewal of allegiance to the path of the Master of Martyrs, Imam Hussain (peace be upon him), and a reminder of his eternal revolution, which stands as a symbol of freedom, justice, and reform.

The attendees expressed deep sorrow and reflection on the occasion of Ashura, emphasizing the importance of commemorating this event in a manner that honors its place in the Islamic and human conscience.
