The First Meeting of the Industrial Advisory Council Held at the Administrative Technical Institute in Basra
The Administrative Technical Institute in Basra hosted the inaugural meeting of its Industrial Advisory Council, chaired by Professor Dr. Iman Asker Hawi, the Dean of the Institute. The meeting was attended by the Assistant Dean and several heads of academic departments.
The session saw active participation from representatives of various governmental and industrial sectors in Basra, including:
•Mr. Majid Saleh Mahdi, Director of the Training and Development Department at the Basra Governorate Office
•Mr. Asaad Abdul Hassan Jaafar, Director of Administrative Affairs at the General Company for Electric Power Production
•Dr. Mudein Abdul Jabbar Mereer, Director of the Marine Rescue Department at the General Company of Iraqi Ports
The discussions focused on strengthening collaboration between the educational institution and different state sectors. Key topics included aligning academic outcomes with labor market needs, enhancing curricula, promoting field training, and supporting students’ applied projects.
In her remarks, Dr. Iman Asker Hawi emphasized the significance of the council as a strategic platform to bridge the gap between education and government institutions. She highlighted the importance of sustaining such cooperation to produce qualified technical graduates who can contribute to the development of Basra Province.
The meeting concluded with recommendations to continue holding regular sessions and to broaden partnerships with additional institutions, aiming to foster greater integration between academia and the service and production sectors.
